‘Sheep On the Narrows’ Canvas Limited Edition

“Salt Spring Island vistas from country roads, this
scene is a favourite across farm fields to distant Sunset Drive and the
glistening waters on Salt Spring Island’s west side.” J

Village View

“Sheep in the Narrows”

“The borrowed vistas from my garden thankfully include my neighbour’s sheep. Each Spring a few new lambs — their mothers in tow — are released onto the neighbouring pasture.

This year, we carved out viewing spaces between our properties, removing decades-old farm fencing, brambles, and blackberry thickets, and replacing them with more secure fencing. I am so glad we did, as my view now offers endless moments of entertainment, along with the joy of making new friends through apple offerings from our prolific trees.

A few old ewes remain after a summer of rich grazing, the babies now grown and gone. My borrowed vista has provided an abundance of photographic inspiration and has also inspired my paintings, Sheep in the Narrows and Salt Spring Sheep.” Jill

*Notes on optional original enhancing:

“Original Enhancing is available for many of my Limited Editions. It is always a pleasure to revisit a painting and apply original layers of acrylic paint over a fine art canvas that is a signed and numbered reproduction.

Each image is first reproduced using archival inks, sprayed onto canvas. I then return the canvas to my studio, where the exciting process begins. Using richly textured acrylic paint, I enhance selected areas — perhaps bringing forward a previously quiet or soft passage, or drawing out certain features to create a renewed sense of depth and presence. The result is a work that carries an entirely new original feel and visual energy.

My finishing touch is the signature gold acrylic detailing I use to line and define areas, offering a soft yet enhanced clarity.

I love photographing the transformation as the “new” look emerges. Throughout the process, I send my client personal notes along with images captured from my studio easel, creating a lasting photographic record of their uniquely enhanced original piece.” J
