“Quetzalcoatl at Chapala” — Original Painting
“In the pantheon of gods in early Mexican history, one of the most renowned is Quetzalcoatl. In one story I read, from ancient times when many gods were worshipped, two powerful deities remained enemies, fighting for dominance—the god of the air, the Eagle, and the god of the earth, the Serpent.
The people, wishing for reconciliation, resolved this struggle by merging the two into one. Thus Quetzalcoatl, the Winged Serpent, became the dominant protector god. Even today, his image appears in many forms and interpretations. It can be seen painted on buildings, and depicted on T-shirts, jewellery, and other works of art. Enjoy my version.”
