Original painted while travelling in Mexico.

"My paintings emerge from what I’m experiencing.
While in Mexico I research its art history, ever interested in myth, history, culture, tradition, pattern, shape and colour. “Plummed Hummingbird” is a play on the title of DH Lawrence's book “The Plummed Serpent” (the Quetzalcoatl). Coincidentally I am staying in the very accommodation  DH Lawrence wrote this book! While researching the myth of The Quetzalcoatl I painted my version. My painting room outside by the sparkling fountain attracts hummingbirds, in my imaginings I fashioned this tiny creature feather plummed and akin to its mighty protector god The Quetzalcoatl. "
