Inspired by the vibrant patterns of Provence, France, this painting celebrates the timeless beauty of French block prints. Originally influenced by Indian textile traditions, these colourful, whimsical designs flourished in France, becoming an iconic part of French country style. I was fortunate to discover this beautiful art form while living in France over 33 years ago, and its joyful spirit has stayed with me ever since. Although many block prints are now reproduced using modern technology, the markets of Provence still overflow with lively tablecloths, aprons, placemats, and fabrics that continue to capture the warmth, charm, and enduring tradition of French country décor.
