“My home for six weeks in Mexico held a delightful courtyard oasis. Lush exotic plants filled colourful pots, while the surrounding garden was edged with towering palm trees, their fronds gently swaying in the soft breeze.
As I painted, my awareness turned to the subtle differences among the trees—the shapes of leaves and flowers. The broad-leaf banana offered deeper shade, its great fans spreading from each stem base, slowly unfurling into giant green pads.”
