As a getaway to Salt Spring Island it can be made more fabulous with the best accommodation and planning that suits your needs.
Salt Spring Island accommodation group listings have categories i.e, cabins, guesthouse, hotels. They are an island group that supports locals as well each other.
The Harbour House Hotel and restaurant is located in town with great sunrises/harbour views from their location.
Historical Salt Spring Inn is in the centre of Ganges, they have a great restaurant too. (My friends love it for its in town location, perfect if you are arriving by float plane as no car necessary). More remote Accomodation with wonderful diversity will insure quiet nature up close.
The time of year can make a big difference for what to explore. Many shops and galleries in town are open year round but with limited hours in the winter. Hiking in the mountains can be difficult to access in the winter as roads can become too rough to navigate. Many island hikes and parks are open year round and offer beautiful quiet respite. Island pathways approaching the town of Ganges give safe walking paths. Boating around our island by charter, your own cruiser, sailboat or kayak is special especially in the warmer months, as many anchorages and sandy beaches are only accessed via a boat. Whale Watching in the summer months is available. Drive to Island beaches for a picnic and to view our waters vistas and less known island roads. Swim in salt water or one of our warm fresh water lakes. Spas and creative workshops are a great way to rejuvenate. Live music is magical under the plum tree at The Tree House Cafe every evening early May to late September. ( Our Gallery is located oppposit) Art Spring Theatre offers an array of performances year round as well hosts Art Displays and Workshops. Farm Stands are in abundance dotted on all island roads they are a must to visit, stock up local produce for cabin rental lunches and dinners. Restaurants are diverse with WestCoast flavours, Winerys and Cider Houses, Chinese, Japanese, Italian. Fine dining to pop up trucks available for all tastes.
Weather in late Fall, Winter and early Spring is cool, damp, misty, windy interspersed with brilliant sunshine with awesome sunrises and sunsets. We can get snow lasting up to a week. Late Spring, Summer and early Fall is usually filled with sunshiny days, some rain. Our average climate is cool but great for vineyards as well olive groves. Gardens and fabulous Nurseries are great to wonder and savour.
January, local business in Ganges as well studios about the island can have limited openings. Our gallery offers private opening times you just need to email for an appointment jlcgallery@gmail.com
