Salt Spring Island celebrating the change to Fall

Fall happenings on Salt Spring Island and the Jill Louise Campbell Gallery.

Our Gallery window is a reflection of this golden fall time, and I am delighted that Lauren Campbell added some special Fall Fair touches. The window dispaly is a special nod to the generations of skill and lovely workmanship, we celebrate in the fall. The painting centered in the window is Ruckle Farm, ta very much loved farm and park on the island. This special artwork is a canvas giclee reproduction, and has been hand embellished with original painting by the artist. The texture of the colours and gold embellishment beautifully capture the light.

Celebrating the Salt Spring Island Fall Fair, the window is covered with a loved family quilt, yellows and soft cream faded over time. Bright green apples spill from the basket, gathered from outside artist Jill’s studio. Miniature sunflowers frame the view as they do in gardens all over the island, standing tall as a last hold out of summer.

Earlier this fall in September. The window featured two paintings that capture our favorite view of the Fulford Valley, and the distinct peek of Mount Maxwell. These two new paintings were just released last year, and have already become classics in Jill Louise Campbell’s Salt Spring Island Collection.

Fall is a really special time on Salt Spring Island, it’s time to celebrate and reflect. The pace is slower but the island is still buzzing. One of the highlights for the community is the Fall Fair, it celebrates the culmination of all the artist and growing power that went into the past season. The Campbell family’s youngest daughter, Lauren, who participated as a young girl with the 4H club. Showing either her pony named Jake or Lamb Survivor. Both were subjects of many of Jill’s paintings. The Fall Fair is dear to many Islanders hearts.

Another wonderful bounty of the fall is celebrated at the Saturday Market, on Salt Spring Island. This is the most wonderful source for fresh vegetables, and a fun meeting of the farmers. The fall time is a bit quieter in the market isles but the produce is full of summer flavor.  You know the farmers will be soon turning their focus to a new crop for the fields. As the Saturday Market ends at Thanksgiving.

The Saturday market runs through to the last Saturday in October.   https://saltspringmarket.com/salt-spring-island-markets/saturday-market/
