This gorgeous 100% silk habotoi scarf made in Canada, designed by Jill, is more a shawl its size 50”x50” allows for a full summer wrap. It’s “Mary” essence is silky smooth a warming snug tucked inside a coat. Vibrant colour the painted image is a protection essence that comforts.

”It is a blessing if “Mary” is your calling. Her constant guidance and protection is often born into lineages. In many areas of France I feel her essence, Her guidance has taken me to remote places in The Pyrenees and tiny churches in small villages.” J.

 “Mary Tree of Life” painting is a collaboration with Cathie Grindler who painted the “Mary” portion  in “Mary Tree of Life”.  Cathie a prolific Salt Spring Island Artist regularly shows her fascinating collections at Summer Art Craft in Mahon Hall as well It’s Winter Show on Salt Spring Island.

“In the Fall 2024  l travelled to France and immersed into three weeks exploring Paris as well an immersive Art Retreat at Chateau L’Orquevoux with my friend Cathie Grindler.

‘Mary’ the Blessed Virgin was a constant guide, her image appeared in many forms from dreams to ‘do a Mary collaboration’ to the tangible discovering Her larger than life statue deep in a forest outside The Chateau grounds. In Paris “Mary”, her image is revered at The Sacre Coure in Paris, we visited several times while staying just meters away, our accommodation window overlooked this beautiful Basilica.

“Mary, Tree of Life” inspired from the pear tree that grew not far from our French Cottage while painting at The Chateau, its abundant fruit often a snack in our painting studio.

The vista from our studio window was to the village forest where we heard whispers that a statue of “Mary” could be found.“ J
